Important Questions to Ask

When Selecting an Online Cremation Provider

Am I paying for services from a traditional funeral home that I do not need?

Does the cremation provider claim to be an Austin provider, but is physically located in another City/State?

Are there hidden charges buried below the advertising price to make the price appear cheaper?

Does the provider or its trusted affiliate have an on-site crematory or is your loved one being shipped to an unknown location without you being aware of the change in care?

Does the cremation provider or the funeral home they are affiliated with have a proven reputation the community?

What types of safeguarding systems are implemented regarding personal identity?

Where is your loved one placed from the time of death to the time of cremation?

How can you expect to be communicated with throughout the process?

How long will you wait for your loved one to be cremated?

How are your loved one’s cremated remains returned to you?

What to Expect

The cremation process typically takes 7-10 business days.

Additional time may be required to obtain certified death certificates.

Step 1:

We are here to help you. We are available to come to your home to plan or help you via phone if you have questions along the way. As soon as the arrangements have been completed and the legal documents signed, we can bring your loved one into our care.
  • Select the services and merchandise you would like on our website and pay online.
  • Submit your contact information in the online arrangement form.
  • Sign cremation authorization forms.

Step 2:
Collect

When your loved one passes, contact us immediately by phone and we will bring him/her into our care. We are available 24 hours/day. If the death occurs at a
  • Private residence: please notify your physician, attending nurse, or hospice care staff and they will give you instructions. We will come to your home and bring your loved one into our care.
  • Hospital or nursing home: let the staff know you have selected ATX Cremation and they will coordinate with us.

Step 3: Registration & Permits

We file paperwork with the county and state to register the death and secure approval before the cremation is performed. The length of this process can be influenced by medical examinations or the responsiveness of the physician to provide the cause of death required for the paperwork. As soon as the permits are secured, the cremation is ready to begin.

Step 4:
Ashes Returned

There are several options for returning your loved one to you. The ashes will be ready prior to the death certificates and may be returned separately or together. Your loved one can be picked up at the funeral home, or personally delivered to your home by a director, or shipped through USPS Priority Mail.

Step 5:
Death Certificates

In Texas, death certificates typically take around 15 business days before they are available for delivery. This means there may be a two to five-day period between the cremains being ready to deliver and the death certificates arriving. We typically deliver these together, but can deliver separately if requested.
